About VSN
The Voices for SEND Support Network (VSN) is an umbrella organization committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those affected by autism. Our work places a special focus on the Somali community in London and other regions of the UK, where cultural, linguistic, and systemic barriers often limit access to timely support and services

Mission
The mission of the Voices for SEND Support Network (VSN) is to provide comprehensive support, resources, and advocacy for families affected by autism and SEND more broadly. We place a particular emphasis on serving global majority communities in London and across the UK, aiming to break down barriers, reduce stigma, and ensure equitable access to culturally appropriate services and support systems.
03.
Vision
At VSN, our vision is to create a society where every family impacted by autism feels understood, supported, and empowered with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive. We envision a future where cultural barriers are broken down, stigma is eliminated, and evidence-based interventions are accessible to all—regardless of background—ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
04.
Background
The need for the Voices VSN emerged from the critical gap in research, resources, and culturally appropriate support available to families impacted by autism—particularly within underrepresented and global majority communities. Many of these families face significant barriers to accessing timely and effective support, often resulting in a reliance on traditional healing practices or cultural remedies. This lack of access and awareness contributes to delayed diagnoses, isolation, and inadequate care for children with SEND.
