Stronger Fathers, Healthier Families: Mental Health and Wellbeing for SEND Communities in Ealing
A community event bringing families, professionals and community members together to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing, and strengthen support for families of children and young people with SEND across Ealing.
Hosted by Voices for SEND Support Network, funded by West London NHS Trust
About the event
Caring for a child or young person with SEND can bring many rewarding experiences, but families may also experience stress, isolation and challenges in accessing the right support.
Stronger Fathers, Healthier Families will provide a welcoming, inclusive and culturally sensitive environment where fathers, carers and families can meet others, share experiences and learn more about the support available to them.
What to expect
Throughout the day, attendees will have opportunities to take part in:
SEND awareness talks, including autism and child development
Interactive Q&A sessions with professionals
Small group discussions where fathers can share experiences and challenges
Practical guidance on accessing support from schools, the NHS and local services
Peer support and informal networking
Information and signposting to relevant services and future support
We also hope to welcome professionals including SEND specialists, educational psychologists, school SENCOs, health professionals, local authority SEND and family support workers, community leaders, and parents with lived experience.
Building stronger families and communities
The event is about more than providing information. It is an opportunity to support fathers, build confidence, strengthen families and create lasting community connections.
By bringing families and professionals together in a safe and supportive environment, we hope to reduce isolation, encourage conversations about mental health and make it easier for families to find and access the help they need.
Together, we can build brighter futures for our children and families.
