Stronger Fathers, Healthier Families: Supporting SEND Communities in Ealing

Voices for SEND Support Network was delighted to welcome fathers, parents, carers, families and community partners to our Stronger Fathers, Healthier Families event on 7 October 2026 at Acton Gardens Community Centre, Ealing.

The event was well attended and provided a welcoming space to discuss mental health and wellbeing, share experiences and strengthen connections among families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Attendees benefited from expert talks, lived experiences, interactive Q&A, practical guidance and information about local services. Health testing was also available through the Healthy Ealing Team. Beyond the sessions, the event encouraged meaningful conversations, peer support and a sense of belonging.

We recognise that fathers and carers can experience stress, emotional pressure and isolation while supporting their families. Creating opportunities for them to connect, access information and speak openly about their wellbeing is an important step towards healthier families and stronger communities.

Our sincere thanks go to NHS West London NHS Trust for funding and supporting this important initiative, as well as our speakers, partners, organisers and volunteers for their valuable contributions. We are equally grateful to the local community and every family who attended and helped make the day a success.

While one event cannot address every challenge families face, it can build trust, raise awareness and help people feel less alone. We hope the connections made will encourage families to seek support, share experiences and continue the conversation beyond the event.

At Voices for SEND Support Network, we remain committed to working with families and local partners to promote wellbeing, strengthen support networks and help SEND families feel heard, valued and supported.

Together, we can build stronger fathers, healthier families and more connected communities.
